That is awesome house it would a good chuck of money it is more time it is more of a solid house then mine I have spend a good chuck of money I did do a complete kitchen renovation and as for the current status of the kitchen a good steam scrub and paint and maybe new floating flooring. If you ever want to resort it I am sure my kids and I would so come up and do demo work (for food and shelter 😁 my favorite kind of work)

In New Zealand there are so many old wooden houses that have be gutted and renovated and fetch top $$$ if and when put on the market. This old girl would be snapped up immediately in her current state if it were here in Nz. She's a beauty!!!

This is the kind of house that my sister and I would DEARLY LOVE to go through with an architect or some such and [re]create original blueprints as accurately as possible to preserve old styles. They could also be used to rebuild an old house that a family wants to recover, creating modified designs for new houses, 3d modeling for any number of purposes, etc.

I wish my house had an attic like that. I especially like that it has a regular staircase going up. My house has no stairs up to the attic; not even pulldown stairs. I have to get a ladder whenever I want to go up which is just about never since it is so much trouble doing so.

That house is in excellent shape for being over 100 yrs old. Someone that renovates would enjoy having a beautiful house like that to bring back to life. As others said once renovated you could rent it out. Just beautiful. The outside looked creepy but not the inside. Except maybe going into the basement would be creepy. Thanks for the tour and history.

At least keep it weather tight, broken windows and critters will ruin a building and really run up the cost of getting it useable. And that would be a shame, there are plenty of lovely details in that building. Even if you want to tear it down at some point, old building materials can bring a pretty penny. So keeping the weather out turns the house into a little savings account.

Omg that trim and dark wood!! Maybe you can salvage stuff like that for a renovation team and make money and just tear down the house if its not fixable.

We live on the original farm that Tom's fifth great grandpa bought in 1842. We have the original sheep skin the deed is written on. Our history, on both sides of our family, goes way back into farming. I'm a 6th or 7th generation farmer.

It is a beautiful house. 10 or 20 years ago it might have been worthy of renovation, but I think its time has passed. I have done renovation and it is VERY expensive both in time and money. You might want to have people who care come out and remove the beautiful wood that can be reclaimed. And other parts of the house that are usable so the beauty can be continued in other houses.

That house is amazing! Restore that thing and then rent it out to pay for the restoration. If you fix the roof and windows it will last longer if you aren't going to restore it right away. As soon as the roof leaks on a house it deteriorates really quickly.

Thank you so much Sandi and Mark for sharing the history of your family and farm. I have been researching some of our family's history. My mom has alzheimer's, so we have started recording the stories she loves telling about her grandfather and her childhood. I have learned that her father's family were pioneers in Oregon. They had a horse and cattle ranch in eastern Oregon. They migrated west fron New Hampshire to Texas, and then across Mexico after the start of the US Civil War. They took a ship to San Francisco, California. Later they continued to Oregon. I was so engrossed in the story, I wore myself out pouring through the internet records. I love the history of these hard working people. Love your channel Sandi.

Love the old house, Start by kicking out the wildlife that took up residence, close up holes and repair windows first! Let the clean up begin, just like the barn you were cleaning! When time and money available fix one room at a time, just clean. The outside... have a family and friends BBQ lol, and start ripping off the rot and replace, I saw brick, so just the beautiful trim work and porches! In about three years or less it could be saved and maybe one of your children will change their mind in years to come and would fall in love with it, their too young too appreciate it now! Or rent property! Thanks for the tour, I know it looks like a money pit, but what you have is golden!!!!!

So Mark and Sandi who is the actually owner of the old house? Monty or the Brock family? Everyone knocks down the old for new brick homes. Like you said Sandy the original wood is beautiful. It’s a shame you couldn’t fix it up real slow. Then again you need kitchen cabinets in your brick home. As they say ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’. Good things come to those who way. Question how much does it cost to rent the 140 acres you mentioned? How much would it be to buy the 140 acres? Take care everyone 💕☮️🇺🇸🐏🌾🚜

I think it would be great to restore. Still looks very sound.Maybe you could rent it out to some one with a bit of land who would want to do their own homesteading. maybe an acre. It would inject some extra income. Sandi thanks for sharing, that was very interesting and Mark explained it so nicely. Lovely to see the two of you together.

If your not going to restore it let someone tear it down and reuse all that beautiful wood, brick & doors. We had a little farm house ( not near as beautiful as yours) that we let them have but they had to completely clean up the property. What was good they used in cabins on a large ranch for guest... it is nice to know it lives on !!

It is so beautiful and such good bones to it. It needs to be either restored, or taken down for the materials. Right now with a new roof and window, it could be restored little by little. I know there is very little chance of it. So sad to see it so alone.

Great little tour. I enjoy learning the history as well. It is good to record this as you can look back on it later. NOW THE HOUSE; The DIYer in me (I don't do it, I just watch others), screams restore the house, but it has to have a use that is economically feasible and fits in with your operation. A decision does have to be made before it is too late. There are many craftsman details that could be salvaged to reuse elsewhere, so it could live on in another house. The way you own the land is quite interesting. I looked up the last 150 yrs of wheat prices and "yes" in around 1913 the price was phenomenal and when the farmer prospers, everyone prospers as indicated by the brick factories. Keep giving us glimpses of Mark and we will wait for his videos.

That house could be rehabbed & rented out. Or even moved back in to! There's too much beauty & character to let it go to wrack & ruin. Or let an architectual salvage company come in & get what is still usable before the house is pulled down. Thanks for the tour! PS: Mark says he doesn't know when WWII was? Seriously???

All the old farm houses had small closets it's crazy knowing families lived with several kids in each room with large families. We had one in the 90's we rented. I loved everything except when they farmed the fields behind us it caused a huge amount of mice to come visit.
