It’s all so wonderful to watch and see all happy lambs! It’s great there’s so few stillborn! Yay! I wonder how the little lamb that got rejected is doing!- the one she wiped all over so the mama would accept it♥️I think that’s my favorite part😊♥️

In most herd animals the dad's don't take a lot of care of the babies, but from observation, it appears watching birth and the new babies makes the males of the herd happy. Even in horse breeding farms, where the stallions are kept separate, if the studs can see the foals, they watch intently and often go prancing around their pen when a new one appears.

I like the varied content personally. This was cool and made me think to myself if you might want to add a small comment with each ewe {if you can} on if it was a easy lambing so that genetic stock stays with you.... As for the more ewe lambs than ram lambs... that is what you asked for a while back. So please accept the gift. You deserve it! Hugs from Beautiful British Coloumbia!

Wow, Just beautiful! God sure knew what he was doing, just look around at the miracle of birth. As much pain as it is at the time, animal moms as well as human moms forget it all, as soon as you see that new baby. Moms instinctive need to love and care for the baby supersedes all else. Beautifully synchronized dance, a delicate balance of life and death. Thank you for sharing it with us,Hugs and Much Love to you and your sweet Family.

Do you ever have it when the mother lays on a baby or two, I worked with hogs and sows would lay on them all the time if they were to lazy to get up or move and I found if I had a radio playing soft music it kept the sows relaxed and you could walk in the barn and the sows wouldn't even get up were as before they would sit up and lay on pigs. I liked it when they came in fast ,only thing was processing and grouping as we had 38 farrowing crates and usually farrowed 60 plus sows a month. I had to kick sows and baby's outside usually when they were less than a day old, but I found that when you moved them outside in hog huts 20x 24x5 ft up front and 3 ft in the back and I would make a creep out of straw bales and I would put a hog panel or cattle and notched it out so pigs could go back and forth but I would lock them in the creep for a hour and then move the sows outside in groups of 8 or 10 and I usually had a weaning avg at 10 or above cuz the babies would stay in the creep to stay warm. Do you ever have it where birds spread diseases from farm to farm especially in the winter. We always kept stuff out on top of wood posts in baiting stations to poison starlings as they would fly from farm to farm and spread diseases by pooping all over the ground.

IDEA!! I think it would be AWESOME to document the life cycle of a specific ewe, like from the moment she was born, to the moment when she gives birth to her own babies. Just small clips from here and there showing the development and the important events in the life on an ewe. Obviously, a clip which takes time haha. Maybe start by choosing an ewe lamb from this group?? Her name should be You (from AM-posts) or Ewe haha. Idk, just an idea 😁 Anyway Keep up the good work!!!

Maybe the ewes the birth near the wall do it to help them cool down a little, or they like the support it offers. They might be the more intelligent ewes, they've figured out how to help themselves best. Comes with experience 😏

Ms Brock: As the lambing in this group begins to wind down, would you consider a “management video” addressing your Gallagher data about the twinning rate of this group as compared to earlier groups? And how it also compares to the overall twinning rate of your total flock? A client of mine claims that a to increase a flock’s overall twinning rate, the shepherd needs to retain twin born ewe lambs because they, in turn, will more consistently have twin lambs. Is twinning that strong a genetically controlled trait? From your background, training and experience, is this claim true? I seem to remember from your earlier videos that flock nutrition and overall flock health are more critical to lamb survivability and flock profitability. Once lambing of this group is done, would you please do a management after action video on what factors you consider most important in to getting to the magic ratio of 2 lambs per ewe. Respectfully, WS

That was awesome Sandi. I really liked getting to watch full lambings. I don't mind at all when you get involved, sometimes that's for the best and you certainly don't want to see a beautiful creature suffer unnecessarily, but when they can do it on thier own, it was very interesting to see how it plays out. Lambing is my favorite part and seeing the lambs in their first days and such. - Maybe because the closest I get to nature is the Bronx Zoo. =p

Could the birthing up against the cement be to protect the baby. Think about it, it's harder for u to get to it. Or does the cement help in pushing. U know in the wild if they birthed up against a rock or tree it would make predators harder to get to the babies. They would have to go through mama first. I wonder!
